Our Story

The story of Timber BBQ Co. starts with family—and a long line of Bowens who made a living out of the woods of Fort Deposit, Alabama. It goes way back to my great-granddaddy, R.D. Bowen. He ran short wood trucks before stepping away to work at the old sawmill in Ft. Deposit. My Pawpaw followed in his footsteps, starting his own company—Bowen Trucking— cutting and hauling timber through the heart of Alabama.

He built a reputation logging across the region. When my dad—better known as “Stump”—came into the business, Pawpaw renamed it David Bowen Trucking Inc. as to not confuse anyone with the new Bowen Trucking. Today, my brother Trey continues this tradition through Bowen Timber LLC.

The logging business shaped our family. I grew up surrounded by it—trailers parked in the front yard, stories shared over dinner, and a work ethic passed down from one generation to the next. While I didn’t go into timber myself, I’ve always felt connected to that foundation. It’s what taught me to value hard work, consistency, and doing things the right way.

Timber BBQ Co. is my way of honoring that legacy in my own way. It’s not about changing course—it’s about continuing the story through something I love.

Now I get to share this chapter with my wife, Emily, and our son, Hayes. They’re a constant reminder of what matters most—and why keeping family at the heart of everything we do will always be the most important part of the story.
